Banneker Elementary School will prepare our students for the 21st Century by developing skills of problem-solving, research and critical thinking. Our goals of student achievement and success will be supported by a positive, encouraging learning community.
The school is named after a famous African American, Benjamin Banneker. He was a mathematician, astronomer, and writer of an almanac and a scientist. He devised the plans of the city of Washington, D.C.
The colors are blue and gold. Blue stands for “The Sky is the Limit”. Gold stands for “Richness in Knowledge.”
The mascot is the panther, “Paw” panther. We, like panthers are climbers, climbing to the top of the ladder of honor and success.
Banneker Elementary is fortunate to be able to offer an after-school Kidzone Program.
Students in Kindergarten through fifth grades may participate in variety of activities including Camp Fire, homework, and tutorial sessions, girl scouts and martial arts.
Hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4:00 – 6:00 PM, and on Wednesday from 2:00 – 6:00 PM. Enrollment packets are available at school. For more information, contact the Kidzone Office at (913) 627-4390.
