School Information

School Mission Statement:
Banneker Elementary Science & Technology (BEST) Magnet School will prepare our students for the 21st Century by developing skills of problem-solving, research and critical thinking.  Our goals of student achievement and success will be supported by a positive, encouraging learning community.

School Name:
The school is named after a famous African American, Benjamin Banneker.  He was a mathematician, astronomer, and writer of an almanac and a scientist.  He devised the plans of the city of Washington, D.C.

School Colors:
The colors are blue and gold.  Blue stands for "The Sky is the Limit.  Gold stands for "Richness in Knowledge."

School Mascot:
The mascot is the panther... "Paw" panther.  We, like panthers are climbers, climbing to the top of the ladder of honor and success.
